This conference will allow delegates to hear from and engage with key policy makers and drivers over two plenary sessions. The afternoon plenary session will allow delegates to tailor their conference experience through the choice of two expert breakout forums focussing on either ‘Further Education & Skills’ or ‘Higher Education’.

This Westminster Briefing Conference will give delegates from all sectors an opportunity to discuss and be informed on the next stages of practical implementation of the Youth Contract, and how this can best be delivered by all stakeholders.

The conference will investigate themes of funding, partnership working, the role of employers, and how job placements can be transferred onto meaningful and sustainable employment in the long term. Delegates will hear from expert speakers both from within Government and from the wider welfare to work and youth services sectors.

The Government's review of literacy and numeracy provision has stressed the need for a more rigorous approach to the teaching of basic skills to students leaving school and entering the workforce. This review is the result of the BIS “New Challenges, New Chances” consultation, and other recent reports such as Alison Wolf’s “Review of vocational education”; “A world-class mathematics education for all our young people” led by Carole Vorderman and Tim Boswell’s inquiry on adult literacy, “Work, Society and Lifelong Literacy”.

SWEP is organising a half day seminar bringing together key figures from the UK and Brussels to hear about and contribute to the development of European Programmes after 2013. This event will closely follow the European Commission’s publication of its Common Strategic Framework for EU programmes – the basis for all EU programmes 2014-2020. This will be an ideal opportunity to meet with the UK’s negotiating team on EU programmes, hear the latest developments and make your own contribution to the future shape of delivery in England. The day will help you shape your own organisation’s plans for EU funding after 2014. Confirmed contributors include:

The ACEVO and Inclusion Youth Unemployment Conference 2012 will feature a range of speakers from across the private, public and voluntary sectors. Rt Hon David Miliband MP is confirmed to give the morning keynote address and will launch the report from ACEVO’s commission on youth unemployment. The commission has included all relevant stakeholders to consider the long-term structural issues and short-term economic factors that have led to the current levels of youth unemployment.
