1.1 Purpose

The South West Regional Skills, Enterprise and Employment Analysis has been produced by SLIM on behalf of the South West Regional Skills Partnership (RSP). This analysis informs the planning and policy development of the RSP. The RSP works to align the supply of skills and related business support with the current and future demands of employers and individuals, and to ensure that employers and individuals play their role by investing in skills. This work underpins the development of an RSP Regional Statement of Priorities for 2007-2010 as well as laying the groundwork for future joint planning arrangements in the region.

The RSP also plays a leading role in ensuring that European Social Fund (ESF) spending is directed towards regional employment and skills priorities. This analysis therefore forms the backcloth against which the RSP has developed a regional framework for the delivery of ESF.

The RSP will also seek to determine what impact its activities will have on the region. As part of this ongoing process, a framework for measuring the impact and performance of the RSP and its partners will be developed.
