The
South West of England Regional Development Agency's policy for developing
key sectors is to produce business-led strategies to maximise the economic
potential of emerging, developing and established sectors on a regional
and sub regional basis. This includes developing a regional ICT infrastructure
strategy to boost economic competitiveness.
The sectors currently receiving active support through the South West RDA are as follows:
Sectors that are important to the region for either employment, GDP or because they are a specialised sector for the region. These are Aerospace, ICT, Food and Drink, Marine and Tourism.
Sectors that have the potential to be important to the economy of region in the future. These are Creative Industries, Biotechnology and Environmental Technologies.
