FRESA Archive

The South West Framework for Employment and Skills Action (FRESA) was a plan, created in 2003, setting out what needed to happen to create a healthy labour market in the South West.

Developed in response to guidance from DTI, DWP and DfES, the FRESA included a vision for the future of the labour market in the South west and a series of Strategic Objectives and Actions designed to achieve the vision.

The FRESA was the over-arching skills and employment strategy for the South West, providing a focus for the development of collaborative skills interventions by agencies across the region until 2005, when it was replaced by the South West Employment and Skills Alliance (SWESA).

As the SWESA moved forward, the following three FRESA sub-groups were discontinued:

  • Engaging employers - FS01
  • Inspiring individuals - FS02
  • Working for a natural balance - FS03

The fourth subgroup, SWESRF - The SW Employment and Skills Research Forum - continued, with the remit of monitoring the performance of the SWESA and advising its task and finish groups on employment and skills research matters. Archived details of its work and remit can be found here.
