The Teaching, Learning and Assessment of Generic Employability Skills Resources - Where to Find Out More About Generic Employability SkillsThe Association of Colleges was created in 1996 as the single voice to promote the interests of Further Education colleges in England and Wales. Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services’ Employability Portal A gateway to information and resources on employability > Go to Enhancing Employability. Aim Higher in the South West is a programme of activities to raise awareness, aspirations and achievement so that more young people from under-represented social groups can progress to higher education, including Foundation Degrees. The Aim Higher South West regional website can be accessed via the programme’s national website. ASDAN’s Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (CoPE) provides a qualification for Personal, Social and Health Education, Citizenship and work-related learning at Levels 1-3. A business education and enterprise charity, which runs programmes in schools and colleges and seminars for teachers to bring business to life. A leading research centre for education and business collaboration, work-related learning, vocational education. City and Guilds offers qualifications ranging from Entry Level 3 – Level 4 which can be used to certify employability skills. An advice and support service to help young people aged 13-19 as they move towards adult and working life. The Connexions West of England Employability Skills Groups aims to raise the level of young people’s participation, progress and achievement through education and business links. The South West regional website can be accessed via the national website. Deloitte Employability Programme The Deloitte Employability Programme has developed a “train the trainer” course for teachers who wish to develop the skills to deliver employability skills training. The training is a 5-day residential course and supports Edexcel’s Level 4 qualification in employability skills delivery. In rolling out this “train the trainer” programme, Delloite will fund twenty places per year for the next 5 years at a designated Deloitte Employability Centre in the South West. Further training sessions will be delivered at a cost of £2,500 per person and it is anticipated the course fees will come down over the next few years. Department for Education and Skills (DfES) 14-19 Gateway This section of the Department for Education and Skills website provides information and resources in relation to the 14-19 curriculum for schools, colleges, work-based learning providers and employers. Edexcel offers a number of qualifications which can be used to certify employability skills, including a Level 2 BTEC Certificate in Employability Skills. It also offers a Level 4 qualification in employability skills delivery. An online, interactive resource concerned with enterprise and work-related learning for teachers and pupils. Enhancing Student Employability Co-ordination Team (ESECT) The Employability Tool and Resource Kit is an interactive website that is intended for use by anyone who is interested in employability and higher education. Graded Qualifications Alliance (GQAL) GQAL has developed the UK’s first performance based assessment system for measuring and validating social, emotional and employability skills. A charity helping disadvantaged 14-30 year olds get their lives working through practical support including training, mentoring and financial assistance. The Royal Society of Art’s Opening Minds programme involves an alternative curriculum for school education, which is designed to develop the competencies that are regarded as key to developing young people who are capable of adapting to the rapidly changing demands of work and everyday life: learning to learn, relating to people, citizenship, managing information and managing situations. Schools’ Enterprise Education Network A network of business and enterprise colleges providing support and Continuing Professional Development for all secondary schools in England. Sector Skills Development Agency (SSDA) This website provides a list of all the Sector Skills Councils who have been charged to lead the skills and productivity drive in industry or business sectors recognised by employers. The Councils bring together employers, trade unions and professional bodies working with government to develop the skills that UK business needs. work, is leading on Employability for the Network. This website covers employer involvement in 14-19 education and training; GCSE’s in vocational subjects; work-related learning; enterprise education for schools; and apprenticeships. A portal with links to a wide range of team-related sites. The Higher Education Academy website contains a wide range of information and resources on graduate employability and enterprise. The Key Skill Support Programme in the work-based route offers a range of products and services to help work-based providers to establish and improve key skills delivery. The LSC is responsible for planning and funding high quality education and training for everyone in England other than those in universities. The Learning and Skills Network (LSN) provides a wide range of resources and services for schools, colleges and training providers on vocational learning, key skills, citizenship and e-learning and technology. National Education Business Partnership The national voice for education-business partnerships whose core aim is to prepare young people for the world of work in particular and adult life in general. It provides work experience and professional development placements for teachers; organises structured visits to the workplace, reciprocal visits by business into schools, and mentoring programmes; and produces resources for use in schools. A training provider and brokerage service to ensure best practice and the sharing of resources in enterprise education. The National Enterprise Network promotes enterprise by providing support, advice and training to those delivering enterprise education. They believe that enterprise should be integral in educating the workforce of tomorrow and preparing young people for the world of work in a rapidly changing economy. Oxford , Cambridge and RSA Examinations (OCR) The awarding body OCR offers qualifications ranging from Entry Level 3 – Level 4 which can be used to certify employability skills. This website is an invaluable resource for all those with an interest in the skills economy of the South West. You will find a wealth of information from their partners, to strategy and progress, publications and news updates, forthcoming events and minutes of key SW RSP meetings. South West Skills and Learning Intelligence Module The Skills and Learning Intelligence Module (SLIM) exists to bring information and intelligence on skills and learning to policy makers and practitioners across the South West. Organisation helping 14-25-year-olds to enhance their employability and develop their individual potential regardless of ability or background. Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority website includes a section that provides information and guidance on planning, running and evaluating successful work-related learning programmes for 14–19 year olds in schools and colleges. A business and enterprise education charity offering a range of programmes, based on Learning by Doing, which bring volunteers from business into the classroom to work with teachers and students in primary schools, secondary schools and universities. The aim of the programmes is to help build a better-motivated, educated, enterprising workforce, at the same time making a real difference to the lives and future potential of young people in their area. |
